Passion and Curiosity in Language Learning

Probably the largest single factor affecting language learners’ success is motivation, and no motive could be stronger than a burning passion and curiosity for learning about the world. As an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instructor who has lived abroad for many years, my surroundings never fail to spark passion and curiosity and remind me that language is a bridge to new experiences and knowledge. For my students living in their home country, however, 21st century technologies play a vital role in igniting their passion and curiosity about the world, turning English into a tool for learning more, rather than just another subject
